Videos About What We Do

The Edge in Action: Take an inside look at an Edge workshop. Processes are introduced as they happen. School counselors and teachers, community volunteers, and students all explain in their own words what an Edge experience is like and why it’s so effective.

Ashland Town Hall with Mayor John Stromberg: On July 23rd, 2014, Grant Williams, founder of This is The Edge, was interviewed by Ashland City Mayor, John Stromberg, on the Rogue Valley Public Television show, “Ashland Town Hall”. Grant discussed his recent trip to Africa, where he conducted the first-ever international Edge workshop for women, as well as detailing how The Edge serves our local community, our schools, and our kids. Take a look at what he had to say.

Phoenix Rising: Please consider viewing this video which is a depiction of a full Edge event at one of our local high schools.

Crossing the Line – Emotional Mentoring in Schools: (“Like Wow” – Southern Oregon Public Television.) As in communities nationwide, there is bullying among children at school here in Southern Oregon. There is a difference here, though: The Edge, a program in which adult volunteers mentor pupils in emotional intelligence. The Edge has found that its program changes the emotional dynamic of a school, reducing fights and bullying, and increasing empathy and tolerance.

Epidemic of Bullying: (“Immense Possibilities” – Southern Oregon Public Television.) Along with their Vice-Principal, two students from Phoenix High School in Jackson County Oregon provide, in their own words, powerful validation of the positive difference The Edge program has made in their school culture.

“Our public TV episode on The Edge stirred an unusual amount of interest, with viewers contacting us by email and phone about how timely and important they thought the program is. That made us understand that the concern about what’s happening to our kids in schools is really broad-based, and that people are intensely ready for bold programs with clear results like The Edge.” – Jeff Golden, Founding Producer, Immense Possibilities

How to Save a Life: A powerful music video composed and performed by The Fray, a talented musical group with an ever-increasing fan base among those who follow the alternative music scene. Through the impactful use of the subject song as backdrop for a video montage of teenage faces displaying a wide-range of emotional expression, How to Save a Life graphically and artfully illustrates the array of troubles confronting today’s youth in our nation’s secondary schools.
